Your first session
Fifty minutes to meet, not to be tested
The first session is a conversation. Your clinician explains how they work and what is private, and you decide whether it feels right. You do not have to tell your whole story.
Before day one
You have your fee in writing, and a Good Faith Estimate if you pay yourself. Bring your insurance card if you have one.
The session itself
Fifty minutes. Your clinician asks what you would like from therapy, and you ask whatever you want about how they work.
Afterwards
You decide whether to book another time. If it does not fit, we suggest someone else.

Good to know
What a first session is not
Not a test
Nobody grades you. If a clinician wants a fuller picture, they tell you why and ask first.
Not a commitment
You can stop after one session. You can switch clinicians without explaining.
Not your whole story
Say as much as feels right. You can leave things for later.
Before day one
What do I need to bring?
Your insurance card if you have one, and any questions you would like to ask. Nothing else.
Where do I go?
Suite 210 at 1130 W University Ave. For video, your clinician sends a link before the session.
What is confidential?
What you say stays between you and your clinician, with limits that your clinician explains in the first session, such as a serious risk of harm.
Start when it suits you
Call or write. Your fee is in writing before your first session.
