Who we are for

Adults in the middle of a term, a job or a move

We see adults, 18 and older.

  • Students

Undergraduates, graduate students and people in professional programs. We schedule around labs, clinicals and exams.

  • Early in a career

A first job, long shifts, a new boss. Evening and Saturday times so you do not have to leave work early.

  • New in town

You moved here for school or work and have not found your people yet.

  • Between chapters

Graduating, moving, ending something or starting something. A place to think it through out loud.

Care

Three ways to meet

  • An armchair and a tall plant by a window in a quiet therapy room

    Individual therapy

One to one with a licensed clinician. Sessions are 50 minutes, and your clinician sets the pace with you.

  • Young adults talking together in a warm, lamp-lit room

    Group therapy

A small group with a clinician, run by the term. You hear others, and you decide how much to share.

    Video sessions

The same sessions from your room. Our clinicians are licensed in Florida, so video is for people who are here.

The semester

The year, term by term

A term has a rhythm. Here is how our hours and sessions fit it.

  • Fall start

New schedule, new city. A good time to pick a standing weekly time that fits your classes or your shifts.

    Aug-Sep

  • Midterms

We keep evening and Saturday hours through the whole term.

    Oct

  • Finals and deadlines

Sessions run as usual. If a big deadline lands, talk to your clinician about moving a time.

    Nov-Dec, Apr

  • Winter break

The office closes for a few days around the holidays. Our clinicians are licensed in Florida, so video sessions can continue while you are here.

    Dec-Jan

  • Spring term

Back to the weekly rhythm, with the same evening and Saturday times.

    Jan-Mar

  • Summer

Staying, interning or heading home? Video works only while you are in Florida; if you leave, we help you find someone where you will be.

    May-Jul

By video

Video sessions across Florida

Our clinicians are licensed in Florida. For a video session you need to be in Florida during the session.

  • Gainesville
  • Alachua
  • Newberry
  • High Springs
  • Archer
  • Micanopy
  • Hawthorne
  • Waldo

Home in another state for the break? We cannot see you by video while you are there. We will help you find someone licensed where you are.

How fees work

  • Insurance we work with

StillPoint is in network with many private plans, and which plans a clinician takes can differ. We check yours before your first session and tell you what we found. We do not take every plan, and we say so plainly.

    • Most PPO plans

    • Some HMO and EPO plans

    • Student health plans: ask us first

    • Medicare and Medicaid: ask us, and we will say plainly whether we take yours

  • If you pay yourself

If you pay without insurance, your fee depends on the clinician and the length of the session. Most sessions are 50 minutes. A limited number of reduced-fee spots are held for students each term, so ask when you write. Your fee is given in writing before you start. You can pay with a health savings or flexible spending card.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

On request we give you a monthly itemized receipt (a superbill) that you can send to your plan to ask for reimbursement. It carries a diagnosis code that your plan sees. Your plan decides what it pays; reimbursement is not guaranteed.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the cost of your care before you start. We give you one in writing. If a bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

Before your first session we check your benefits and tell you what we found, including any copay or deductible your plan sets. You hear from us by call, text or email, whichever you chose.

Questions

What people ask first

Do you take my insurance?

It depends on your plan and on the clinician. We check your benefits before your first session and tell you what we found. If you pay without insurance, your fee is given in writing before you start.

Do you have evening and Saturday times?

Yes. We are open Monday to Thursday until 8 p.m. and on Saturday mornings. Exact times depend on the clinician.

Can I have sessions in Spanish?

Yes, with Jessica Uribe, Herminia Echeverria and Rosendo Garza. You can choose the language when you write to us.

What if I have to leave Florida?

Our clinicians are licensed in Florida, so video works only while you are here. If you leave, we help you find someone licensed where you will be.

What if I am in crisis?

Call or text 988, any time. In an emergency, call 911. This site is not monitored around the clock.

What happens in the first session?

It lasts 50 minutes. You decide how much to say. Your clinician asks what you would like from therapy and explains how they work and what is confidential.

How we work

Talking therapy, at your pace

Every clinician at StillPoint is licensed in Florida and sees people one to one or in a small group. Sessions are talking therapy: you choose what to talk about, and your clinician listens, asks questions and sometimes suggests something to try between sessions.

Clinicians draw on different methods, and each one says which on their own page. We do not promise an outcome or a number of sessions. Your clinician sets the pace with you.

Write to us

How would you like to begin?

We reply within one business day, in English or Spanish, the way and at the time you choose.
